The presentation on 3/26/03 was commended. There was a good turnout. The Warrior looks great: easy to read and useful.
The website has good pictures but the SIT minutes aren’t updated. Tony Lush reported that the assessment reports will be forwarded to Sue Murdock for the website. No last names should be put on the website.
Playground: Asked if parents would get a pass when dropping off children. This may seem unwelcoming. Suggestion: put in the Warrior that it would be for safety reasons.
Lawn Ave. SIT: Website idea for 2 schools – majority of information for both- then have 2 separate links: one for Melrose and one for Lawn Ave. How should we separate information? We’ll need to brainstorm how to lay it out. How does SIT feel about it? Common area? Tony Lush will meet with SIT at Lawn Ave. to reorganize website.
Attendance? There’ll be food for 70. Childcare offered (so fare 17 children attending).
Both SITS will look at last year’s SALT data. To look at the new SALT data on Thursday, April 3: Susanne, Jane, Kathy, and Beth.
The norms of Improving Schools were read orally: 1. Much in plan from teachers 2. Much in plan from SALT data 3. Much in plan from administration 4. Much in plan from SIT.
We will begin working on the district plan in late summer to early fall. Each year the previous plan is used as a model to revise. We shall draft as Melrose School’s School Improvement Plan. The top 3 initiatives shall remain the same. The Critical Friends’ Group – SIP group beneficial and we hope to have it back in again. The groups of teachers working together were a good professional development piece.
Looping – whether to promote it or not.
