Meeting Minutes

September 14, 2005

Present: K. Almanzor, M. Andres, K. Chandler, L. Carlisle, B. Hawkins, M. Keen, J. Kraus, J. Mitchell, C. Petrocelli, K. Rafanelli, S. Schott, N. Tamboe, J. Warner, J. Wright, E. Covell

•  Introductions were made.

•  The SIT mission and guiding beliefs and goals were reviewed.

•  Committee members contributed ideas for potential SIT projects (attached). Some were discussed:

•  Exploring a “character development” type program for the school. (The Second Step program was explained and discussed. A plan was made for a possible presentation/sample lesson for parents to attend to be educated on the program.)

•  Involving parent volunteers in the cafeteria with the hopes of promoting conversation and appropriate social/dining skills.

•  Continuing the use of the DLP (Differentiated Learning Program) that was begun last year, and providing parents with some feedback as to the success of the DLP (possibly included in the written portion of report cards).

•  Improving quality of food in cafeteria. (An update was given on the progress made in improving the food quality in both schools, decreasing the days when ice cream is offered, etc.)

4. The next SIT meeting will be held on October 20, 2005.
