Notes from the January 3^rd Lawn SIT Meeting

• Reviewed and discussed the 2007 Parent Survey Results from the survey sent out by the SIT teams in June of last year and the 2006-2007 Parent SALT Survey results

• Main areas of parent concern in both were:

  • Academic Rigor/ Challenge

  • Behavior

  • Report Cards

• Discussion of our upcoming SALT visit and preparations

• Lawn SIT will meet with the SALT Team Tuesday 2/26 after school at 2:40- Please mark your calendars!

• Kathy will share the updated School Improvement Plan at the next SIT meeting on Thursday 1/10. The group requested an emailed copy for review before the meeting.

• Discussion around the possibility of reviving the Junior National Honor Society in 7^th and 8^th grade to encourage and acknowledge student community service.

• Island Treasures Community Day was discussed briefly.

• We need to send out invitation letters to community members to present by end of Jan. or early Feb.

• A date needs to be chosen for Spring 2008- End of May

• Some of the planning and coordination will be done by 7^th and 8^th grade students in the Project-Based Learning Enrichment class starting in early Feb.

• Need to review parent and student feedback from last year’s event

• SIT will still need to plan and oversee the event

• Should we branch out to “off-site” workshops this year?
