Lawn Ave. School Improvement Team April 8, 2004 |
Back to Lawn SIT |
Organizational gathering was held with 9 people who attended. Many members had other commitments due to Easter and vacation week.
Minutes were read by individuals and then accepted. New plans were made for Sub committee work on action Plan for strategic plan.
Goal 1 committee did meet and work on this goal, which says:
ÒProvide a challenging learning environment that values excellence and promotes high levels of performance.Ó
This action was pretty well finished however, following suggestions/recommendations, it will be finalized. Mrs. Sipala will read it at its completion and will help identify any areas of weakness, confusion, need for clarification.
Following the perusing of Goal 1, it was determined that each member should get a copy of this completed Goal. It may help the other groups to complete their action plans. Hopefully, once other members receive it, it can be used as a ÒguidingÓ model. Goal 2-committee and Goal 3 committee can complete their action sheets in the same way as goal 1.
Committee Members
Learning Environment: Goal 1: Bruce E., Jen, Sarah Baines and Martha Vignault
(Cultural) Goal 2: Julia, Joyce, Paul, Samira
(Civic) Goal 3: Mary, Sam, Christine B. Julie
Action: K. Sipala will forward Goal 1 and Òblank action plansÓ for goal 2 and 3 committee members to use when creating their plan of action. Each committee will be instructed to try and meet to complete a draft of their GoalÕs action plan before the next Lawn Ave. SIT meeting.
This summit will be meeting on May 12 in Warwick. See attached. Hopefully more people will go to the RIMLE from upper grades to represent their level. Need someone from 5th, 6th .
Champlain Grant:
K. Sipala said that as discussed at faculty meeting, there would be a better chance of getting the grant if it were dealing with the library and community. Kathy S. Maureen M., Lisa C. and Phil C will be meeting to write a 1-page proposal dealing with this. And, if we donÕt win it, it could become part of the schoolÕs strategic plan.
SALT results are in for this year. Nothing surprising however it isnÕt a very good indicator. These results will be given to Mary Grenadier so she can called drug data. SALT in, we will not go through it until all that was done for last years tests results are dealt with in appropriate way.
