PRESCHOOL LANGUAGE AND MOVEMENT

October 2007

By Miss Terry, Miss Sharon and Miss Katy

This month's book is Glad Monster, Sad Monster by Ed Emberley & Anne Miranda. The hand rhyme is The Itsy Bitsy Spider (see below). Ask your child to do the hand rhyme with you. Other language activities will include identifying facial emotions, making spider puppets, identifying different textures and making "monster toast".

THE ITSY BITSY SPIDER

The itsy bitsy spider climbed up the waterspout.

(Touch pointing finger to thumb and alternate while moving the hands upward)

Down came the rain

(Wiggle fingers down from head to waist)

And washed the spider out.

(The "finish" sign)

Out came the sun and dried up all the rain,

(Raise hands above the head, making a circle for "sun")

And the itsy bitsy spider climbed up the spout again.

(Repeat the first movement)
