       When in Rome……

                                 Do as the Romans!

Historical Roman People

7th grade Social Studies Project       Due Date: February 13, 2003

As part of our Roman Unit we have read aloud the book The Great Kettles: A Tale of Time by Dean Morrissey.   If you were absent the day it was read in class, several copies of the book are available from the Jamestown Public Library.  It is your responsibility to check out the book and read it before you start the project.

Description:  You will write a historical fiction* episode of Joey’s adventure when he lands in the Roman Empire in his “time machine”.   Your story will start with Joey leaving The Great Kettles, having an adventure in Rome, and end when he returns to the attic.  Your story will include characters, places and facts from the study of Rome.  This will demonstrate what you learned about Ancient Rome.

*Remember a historical fiction is a story that is not true but contains facts about history that are true.

We will work on this project beginning February 4, 2003 in class and it will be due on February 13, 2003.  All work will be completed in class unless you are absent, do not finish the assignment in class or do extra research for an exceeds.  An example would be to research a historical figure from the list that we have not studied in class.
